Music does matter and in honor of that I've decided to grace my website with facts and opinion on this years b.e.t award. The awards show was indeed virtual but artists and journalists did an amazing job keeping the program together. The performances and interviews went surprisingly well. They also did a great job highlighting the current issues the world is experiencing. However, many didn't agree with me. This blog is for those who would like another perspective on how the b.e.t awards did a splendid job on keeping up with what's going on and how they were able to maintain social distancing protocols.

Lonr

This new artist with amazing vocals was also an amazing part of the award show. He was introduced by everyone's gospel favorite, Kirk Franklin. The song was very touching and showcased his voice well. Lone is another artist who made sure the voices of the black community are heard. During his performance, he made sure videos of protests were shown to highlight the issues occuring.

Lil Wayne

This rapper has been around for quite some time now and is known as a poetic genius to many people. Lil Wayne honored basketball legend, Kobe Bryant, with an amazing tribute. During the tribute, videos of the legend played while Lil Wayne was seen rapping with ‘Kobe’ imprinted behind him. The words were very strong and acknowledged how great of a player he was. However, not only did he pay tribute to Bryant, he also acknowledged the issues his people are experiencing during this time.

Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys gave the B.E.T Awards a very heartfelt song. The song reflected how a mother lost her son to racial injustice and police brutality. The set up was also very amazing as it showed the singer amongst piano and sitting upon a street that carved out names of many black victims. All of the victims were those of police brutality. Keys also sang lyrics about Sandra Bland as her pictures were shown on a nearby building amongst other victims.

Chloe X Halle

This new R&B duo is known for their fire outfits and angelic voices. Their voices sounded beautiful as they changed up a few things in their songs ‘Forgive Me’ and ‘Do It’. The sisters had two different well put together sets as well as two outfit changes. They even went on to create a virtual side by side performance toward the end. The duo is definitely on the rise and i hope to see them again next year!

Summer Walker X Usher

This R&B duo gave an amazing performance all because of their amazing vocals. The two even practiced social distancing by staying apart even after their sets and bands were very close. They performed their latest song ‘Come Thru’ and gave the song a soulful twist. That wasn't all they had to offer, though. Their fits definitely came through as well.

Jonathan Mcreynolds X Kane Brown

This performance was another to remember. John Mcreynolds opened it up with a very heartfelt song that said the words “Deliver me from people”. Despite the social distancing rules, they were able to put the two artists on the same set along with their band. Toward the end Kane Brown delivered an amazing message that reflected what's going on right now. “You're missing every color if you're only seeing black or white” the artist continued to sing about equality. The message was amazing as well as their voices.

Karen X Kierra Sheard

A family duo is always the best to get the audience engaged. This mommy daughter duo graced the award show with their amazing voices with a performance of the song ‘Something Has To Break’. The performance was just what the award show needed. The gospel duo did an amazing job as usual. The performance was even more powerful because of what the world has been going through. That's not the only thing that was amazing about it though. The outfits worn by the two were absolutely stunning and I hope to see them next year!
